I am in Zanzibar! I remember listening to that song my freshman year of college, not having any clue where Zanzibar is, and here I am. White sand beaches, crystal waters. It really is beautiful. Unfortunately, maybe the rainy season was not the best time to pick to come, as it is a bit on the gloomy side. Relaxin’ to the maxim’ though.
Serengeti/Ngorongoro was AMAZING. Tanzania is so beautiful, and we saw tons of animals. Also, in the past 2 weeks I am pretty sure I have seen more white people than black people, which is weird. Highlights of my trip have included Mom getting down with some Maasai men in tribal dance (I am still kicking myself for not having my video camera–at one point she broke out some Irish river dance on them and they all started doing the foot jig, I almost peed myself). Also, my mom talks to EVERY animal we come across as if it were a long lost relative, ”why hello mister elephant, your tusks are so big, you’re cute, where is your mom?” Now I know where I get my talking-to-myself-crazy from.
Hanging out on Zanzibar for the next few days, then we are headed to Iringa and my site for Christmas. I am excited to get home, traveling is a little exhausting!
As a random thought, do you put two spaces after your punctuation marks when you type? I feel like they used to do that back in the day with typewriters, but that is how I learned it also, and I think that you aren’t really supposed to do 2 spaces anymore. I have spent this whole post trying to only put one space, but it is a hard habit to break! Maybe I’ll just stick to two.
