I discovered a termite infestation in my house this morning! They ate many of my books. Carrying said termite-ridden books outside involved many shrieks, so many; in fact, some passing students came to check on me. I have gotten the situation under control now, and in the process learned that termites can produce two litres of hydrogen from digesting a single sheet of paper making them one of the planet’s most efficient bioreactors (courtesy of Wikipedia). Cool.
The past few weekends have been some of my favorites in country. It started with a few of my form I girls coming to ask for my help to bake a cake. I agreed, and we had an awesome day where we baked cake, made chipsi mayai (like an egg and potato omelet—delicious), and had dance parties in all the in-between moments. When they came and asked me yesterday if we could do it again, I quickly consented. I hope chipsi mayai, birthday cake, dance party Saturdays continue to be frequent in my future (maybe I’ll pass on the termites—apparently people eat them some places, hmmm…Termite. It’s what’s for dinner, tonight). Sitting in bed, watching How I Met Your Mother eating mac n’ cheese by candlelight now. Life is good.
